Jon is the longest tenured player on the team, having been with the franchise since the fourth game of its inaugural season. He began this year as the team’s career leader in games played with 222; goals scored (85); assists (112) and points (197).
Aside from a brief nine-game stint with Muskegon in the 2005-06 campaign, Jon has not played for another team in professional hockey. He has had one-game AHL call-ups to the Iowa Stars and the Peoria Rivermen the last two seasons.
Jon was named to the IHL all-league team last season and was one of only two players to score 100 points in the league (40 goals and 60 assists in 75 games) to rank second. His goals and assists totals ranked third in the league. He was second in power play goals with 15 and led the league in shots with 313.
He was a unanimous choice as the PrairieThunder’s Most Valuable Player.
He was signed by the PrairieThunder early in the 2006-07 season and played 73 of 76 games in his rookie year, scoring 16 goals with 24 assists for 40 points. He followed that with 29 goals and 28 assists for 57 points in his second year.
Jon was a four-year letterman at Lake Superior State where he played for current Quad City coach Frank Anzalone for three years. He was the team’s Rookie of the Year as a freshman. He earned a degree in sports management. Jon’s uncle is former NHL standout goalie Andy Moog.
